At Purple Plum, we believe the early years are about much more than getting children ready for school. They are about helping children build relationships, develop confidence, learn to express themselves, become independent and discover the world around them.
Children are capable, curious and full of potential. Given time, encouragement and the right environment, they can accomplish much more than we sometimes expect. That's why we don't believe every child needs to learn in exactly the same way or at exactly the same pace.
We give children opportunities to explore, make choices, ask questions, try something new, make mistakes, try again and celebrate their accomplishments. Sometimes the most meaningful learning happens during the simplest moments.
We value all of these moments.
Our educators take the time to build genuine connections with children, to listen to them, understand their cues, comfort them when they need reassurance and celebrate their successes.
We want children to know that there is someone here who will listen when they have something to say, help when something feels difficult and celebrate when they accomplish something new.
We thoughtfully arrange our learning spaces so children can explore, make choices and become increasingly independent. Materials are accessible and inviting, allowing children to choose what interests them and return to activities in their own time.
We want our classrooms to encourage children to wonder: “What can I discover?” rather than simply asking: “What am I supposed to do?”
We know that families are a child's first and most important teachers. You know your child better than anyone, and we value what you share with us. Your child's favourite book, a new interest, something that happened at home, a change in routine or even a little story from the morning can help us understand your child better.
We believe that when families and educators work together, children feel more secure and supported.
